Salwan Toumajian is the co-founder of P.E.A.C.E (Promoting Eastern Artisan Collaborative Effort). She was born in Baghdad, Iraq in 1961. The highest level of education attended in Baghdad was the 8th grade, at Baghdad High School (BHS). Then, she moved to England and attended Whalley Range High School in Manchester. She studied at the University of Houston, Texas, graduating in 1984, earning a BS in Pharmacy.

She worked for corporate America until 2014. In June 2013, she opened Amber Jar Pharmacy with her partner, Rania Meade, through which she was given the opportunity to work closely with refugees that led to the formation of P.E.A.C.E.
